The history of October 20 also goes along with the historical flow. According to recorded documents, since 1930, when the anti-French resistance movement exploded strongly with the establishment of many national salvation associations, attracting many classes of patriotic people to participate. In which, women stood up to establish their own association on October 20, 1930. Initially, the association was named Vietnam Anti-imperialist Women's Association to represent the female workers and peasants, against imperialism, demanding rights for women. Later, the association changed their name to Vietnam Women's Union to suit the role, cultural and social situation of the country. To mark this event, the Communist Party of Vietnam has decided to choose October 20 as a day to honor Vietnamese women for their great role, for their sacrifices and contributions in life, as well as in history.

The meaning of Vietnamese women's day

For generations, the role of women - half of the world, has always been highly valued and appreciated, not only in the family but also in social relationships. Women are both the nurturers of the family, a solid rear for the husband and children, and the "keeper of the fire" for the home, while cultivating knowledge and expressing themselves in doing business. The meaning of Vietnamese Women's Day on October 20 is to honor the talents and contributions of women. Men also choose this occasion to express their love and respect to the important women in their lives through many different ways. Be it giving gifts, greetings or simply sending love words to women.

In today's modern society, when the role of women is increasingly enhanced, it is not only "to do housework" but also "to be good at national work".
